About a week into our exciting Sixth Class year Ms. Keane decided to make a “Prayer Tree”. She handed us all out a piece of coloured paper, cut into squares. The square paper were a variety of different colours (From red, blue , green and yellow to orange.)

Ms. Keane had the prayer tree for years. Although it still remains a mystery to this day whether she used it as “Prayer Tree” from day one.

The Prayer Tree is a branch from a Hawthorn tree which we know have special spiritual qualities. The branch is quite thin and approximately 60cm tall. The bottom of the tree is dug into a piece of dried-up clay. It has tons of long different branches bursting out of it . The tree has no leaves, but what we have done with it makes it look even better than leaves.

We all (all 28 of us ) wrote on our cards a prayer, or a wish. We then put a hole in the corner of our squares and tied string through them. Then we hooked on the paper to different branches. The ending result looks creative , colourful and exquisite .

That was a description of our prayer tree. We hope you enjoyed it.
