Our young quiz buffs in 5th and 6th classes did the school proud when they won the Mid Louth section of the Cumann na mBunscol Primary Schools’ quiz on Tuesday 13th November in Knockbridge NS. This was the larger school section

There were ten teams competing – hosts Knockridge NS, Kilsaran, St Oliver’s Blackrock, St Francis Blackrock, Kilcurry NS, Kilkerley and of course Dromiskin. Two teams would go through to the county final. The quiz comprised of eight rounds of ten questions covering topics such as  general knowledge, geography, history, sport, film and music. There were two GAA questions in each round.

It soon turned into a two horse race with Kilkerley and St Peter’s vying for the top spot. They were locked together after eight rounds, both with an excellent total of 75 out of 80. A tie break of 5 questions still couldn’t separate the teams so we entered in to a nailbiting sudden death play off. Parents from Dromiskin were delighted when quizmaster Mr Mc Donnell from Knockbridge announced Dromiskin as the winners and progressing to the final along with Kilkerley. They received lovely plaques for their victory.

The final took place in Knockbridge NS on Tuesday 20th November. Despite a great performance, this time Kilkerley turned the tables and emerged victorious and were crowned champions of Louth. Still, runners up to such worthy winners was a great achievement. Well done all!!
