We use Class Dojo in our classroom which means we have a private blog that only parents and students can view. This blog includes photographs and videos from our classroom, work we create and information that parents may need to know. Please make sure you have signed up to Class Dojo using the link Ms. O’Rourke sent home in September.

Maths Tips for Parents Speed Challenge (we use this daily in class)
In January we started Maths stations. Each group will study length, weight and capacity with a different teacher. By the end we will be experts at measuring different objects. Click HERE to see some photographs from our Length station with Ms. O’Rourke.
Religion
We all worked very hard on the display for Catholic Schools Week in January.
English
We are reading Demon Dentist by David Walliams in class. Our teacher reads us a chapter (or more!) a day and we practise using our comprehension strategies with the text. These include:
- making connections (text:text, text:self, text:world)
- making predictions about what we think will happen next
- summarising what has happened so far
- talking about our favourite characters, events or words
We also use our comprehension strategies in our reading groups. We read lots of different books throughout the year. When we finish a book we design alternative book covers. We’ll be adding to the different covers throughout the year. Check Alternative Book Covers for some examples of our work. Enjoy!

SCRATCH
We have started learning about Scratch in November. Scratch allows you to create games, animations and stories using computer programming. The Parent Page on the Scratch website has some very useful information, you can find it HERE. SCRATCH can also be used offline by downloading Scratch 2 Offline Editor, you can find the link HERE. You can sign up at home but Ms. O’Rourke will be sending home individual login information for each child. This will enable us to share our projects with the class. We are VERY excited!
